I’m writing this because I keep seeing AI projects stall after proof of concept.
And I do not think the main issue is the project, the agents, or the specification.
The real challenge is the environment these systems are introduced into.
In many companies, people are not yet comfortable with curiosity. I understand why.
We often ask people who have spent years in tightly controlled roles, where instructions are clear and routines are set, to suddenly experiment and play.
Most people are already at capacity.
They want tools that work out of the box.
Delegation is not a habit for many.
This matters, because agentic systems rely on delegation.
When you give a direct tool command, like “go do this”, it’s clear and gets done.
But a proof-of-concept agent, no matter how well designed, will not get traction if its value is not obvious.

From what I have seen, the main blocker to moving from proof of concept to production is often organisational readiness, not the AI model itself.
